Be very carful when buying a home in Ashdow Forest or Fiddlers Canyon. Alot of the homes are sinking, and the cost to try to stablelize the foundation is, tens of thousands of dollars. For example one home owner spent $30,000. to stablelize one corner of there home just to have the other side of the home to start sinking 6 months later. Do your home work, no insurance company will cover this. So it my look like you are getting a good by, but buyer be ware. Instead of spending your life saveing on a sinking house, there are areas of Cedar City that are stable, such as Mountain Shadows out off High Way 56 south of Center St. It’s quite, clean air, it gets the wind however the mountain to the south east breaks the wind a little, so it’s not as bad as it is in the valley. As with any large purchase do your home work. And also do your home work when buying a home with a basement or granite counter tops, make sure you have a radon test done, even if your agent tells you that its not needed, do your home work. Did you know the Radon is the second cause of Lung Cancer in the US and Utah has very high levels of Radon, so if you want what best for your families health, avoid buy a home with either, and if you do and the test is ok today you have to continue to test every year, you may be ok today and then your family is being poisoned tomorrow.
Don’t let anyone not even your Real Estate Agent tell you that you don’t need these or other inspections or tests. They just want a pay check, you on the other hand will be the one living in the home, and spending you life savings on the home. Don’t let your dream home become you worst nightmare. Or one of those home that you can’t sell.

We have been looking at homes in fiddlers, canyon ash wood forest rd. Someone must have a geological report on what is going on under ground there. There are an awful lot of homes there with foundation problems. Is there a river under ground, a delta that has not compacted the ground over the years there must be something they can do to shore up foundations. There are concrete grouts that you can pump in the ground to help stabilize the ground like they do in tunnels and dames.
